Five Guys Burgers Come to Winnipeg Summer 2012

More than 18 months ago, the story was that Five Guys Burgers was coming to Winnipeg and a few locations were tossed around. Sometimes it takes a while for the actual plans to get under way as we have seen from the Ikea store.

Well, now we have two confirmed locations and they will be open this summer according to their website.

The locations are:

South Winnipeg at 2425 Pembina Highway
Crossroads Winnipeg at 1575 Regent Ave

It certainly will be a busy time in the next while with Woody's, Famous Dave's and now Five Guys Burgers all opening in short order.

No idea what the delay was in getting these first places open but they certainly will be welcome when they do come here.

So another US chain comes to town to sell burgers. Good news? Winnipeg has a proud local burger culture: Sals, Juniors, Red Top, etc. Rather see the locals thrive than outsiders arrive.

Xtoval: No criticism about our local restaurants here.

But here's one thing to keep in mind: Hamburgers only came here because German outsiders brought the idea here.

Let the battle of delicious hamburgers begin!

Funny I moved here four years ago and this is how Winnipeg treats everything new, including people. Thats not the way we do it around here should be on the liscense plate instead of friendly Manitoba.
The burger I had at 5 guys was better, the restaurant clezner and the customer service friendlier then at any of the landmarks mentioned.
